Caribou Island
The site is located on the north shore of Gull Lake one kilometre north of A
Caribou Island and 700 m south of Little Gull Lake. A small stream extends
from Little Gull Lake into the Nelson River 1.4 km west of the site. The area is
low-lying, especially on the terrace behind the shoreline and was covered with
scrub willow and grasses. The shore had large cobbles between the vegetation
line and the shoreline. During the initial visit in 2003, an Archaic projectile
Gull Lake Gull Lake point was recovered from the site along with Pre-European Contact flakes. Site
Nelson River visits occurred in 2003, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2018.
