In 2012 the archaeological crew walked the shoreline of Box Bay. The crew
followed a single set of caribou tracks around a rocky point. This site was A
named Atihki-néyáw or Caribou Point. Small to medium cobbles lay on the
shoreline with spruce trees along the back shore. During later visits, due to
clearing and the 2013 forest fire, the back shore consisted of exposed sand
and deadwood. Artifacts along the shore consisted of various Pre-European
Contact ceramics and lithics spanning Archaic, and Middle and Late
Woodland periods (ca. 350 to 6,500 years ago). Site visits occurred in 2012, C M
2014, 2016, 2018 and 2019.
