Nelson River (1870-presen t)
Nelson River
The site is located on the north bank of the Nelson River on the west side of a
small sheltered cove. The shoreline was strewn with limestone cobbles that had A
eroded out of the bank. The site is characterized by both Pre-European Contact
and Historic artifacts. Numerous pottery sherds were collected from both the
Middle and Late Woodland periods. Site visits occurred in 2001, 2012, 2013,
2014, 2015, 2018, and 2019.
